THE SHERLOCK HOLMES
PIPE CLUB OF BOSTON
Keeping The Smoking Lamp Lit Since 1989
July 2022
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 5th @ 6:00 PM - Massapoag Sportmen's Club
We will be having a WEENIE ROAST around the fire pit starting at 6:00 PM. See Presidents message for details.
President's Message
Hello All,
With the 4 th of July Holiday coming up this weekend I would like to extend my best wishes for a happy and safe day. Drink less and smoke more. Maybe a cob or clay in honor of our forefathers contemplatingthe true meaning of the day and not the substitute or excuse for excess BBQ and Booze.
It is my sad duty to inform the club that we will be losing two well attended members. Al and Shawn. Al is leaving the hobby because of some health issues, and we all wish him well. Shawn who took to the
hobby like a moth to a flame will be moving to Savanah, Georgia. On the bright side Shawn is interested in starting a charter club down there once he is settled. Both great guys and both will be terribly missed.
At the last meeting Eric informed us we now have use of the fire pit, so this month bring your appetite. We plan to roast some hot dogs over the fire. Please bring anything you would like to grille if you hold
any particular dietary restraints. The club will provide the dogs, buns, and condiments. Please provide your own beverage. We will meet at 6:00 instead of 7:00.
This meeting I will bring the mystery tobacco and all member who wear either red, white or blue will receive an extra ticket for a change in the President’s raffle.
See you Tuesday,
Kevin

The Case of the Duplicitous Palette - A Scott Wadsworth Adventure
By Ernie Whitenack
This work tells the history of smoking in England from the social point of view. Thus it does not deal with the history of tobacco growing or tobacco related manufacture, but is rather the story of how smoking has fitted in with the fashions and customs throughout the ages, and the changes in the attitude of society towards smoking. (Summary by Maikki). We will add a new chapter each month for your listening pleasure. Chapters are not all read by the same reader.
