THE SHERLOCK HOLMES
PIPE CLUB OF BOSTON
Keeping The Smoking Lamp Lit Since 1989
I hope you and your families and those close to you are safe and healthy. We are certainly living in a time that none of us could even imagine could be possible. I agree with local authorities that the only way to bring this to an end is by limited interaction with others and self-quarantine. Now, self-quarantine does not have to be so bad. What better excuse could we come up with to be locked in a space with our cherished briars, clays and cobs? The six-foot safety distance does not apply to these friends. Also hope you have plenty to stuff into your bowls. If you don’t, remember all our friends at the local B&M’s are happy to ship what ever you need. If you are finding yourself a little short in the pocket please feel free to send me a private message and I’ll be sure to send you some supplies to meet your liking at no cost what so ever, nor any questions asked, nor anything expected in return.
I am sorry I missed the Zoom meeting last month and was informed it was a great success. I also learned that I was once again elected president of our prestigious club. I thank you all for your confidence and I will try and steer the ship the best I can during these trying times.
I think it’s safe to assume that the Pipe Show will be on hold until we have a better grip on how venues are going to handle large gatherings. Maybe we can have a brief discussion about it at our next Zoom meeting.
As of now, that’s all I got. I am dying for “Chinatown Food” and hope we get back up and running by June or no later than July. Be well my brothers and, please don’t hesitate to call if you need anything.
Riverville Murder - Chapter 14
“You are so right. However, it will take a couple or three days to accomplish. The way I see it is: First, Goddard. We will hit all addresses, including his bar, simultaneously. If Successful, we will, as quietly as possible, start to pick-up gang members in both cities. The hope being, that we can complete the job before word gets out that we are making arrests. Who knows, we might even bag a few at Goddard’s bar when we are there. I have state detectives and troopers cruising South Boston around the clock. According to the captain, the gang is a habitual bunch; following the same daily routines with few exceptions. I’m convinced it will go quickly.”
“One thing is bothering me about Goddard. His name came to me from Mic Mitchell among a list of employees at Swenson’s Plumbing Service. It hardly seems that he would have a job as a plumber and boss two gangs at the same time.”
“Yes, that does seem strange, Grant replied. Is there any way to check this again? Can you call Mitchell?”
“Oh, yes. Mic is available most of the time, unless he is out of the office checking a job. Is this phone OK for outside calls”, Scott asked Carl.
