SHPC August 2003 Meeting Reminder
Good Day Gents (and Lady),
It's that time of the month again, but this time it's a good thing. I hope everyone's summer has been enjoyable and going as planned.
This month's meeting will be held on August 13th.
Instead of a theme this month, Ted Blank will be showing us some of his Meerschaum collection. As many of you know Ted Blank is an avid collector of Meerschaum pipes. For the past few months he has brought in a tray of his collection for our viewing pleasure. This month he will be displaying his collection of carved head pipes of which he has quite a few. Photo's of Ted's pipes will appear in next months reminder however there's nothing quite like seeing them in person.
Also, as many of you may already know, the future Father Barley will be returning for a visit this month. Through the divine graces of his superiors he has been vested with the power to perform the "Blessing of the Pipe", so be sure to bring all of your pipes with you to this meeting. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this blessing it goes something like this:
We've got a lot going on this month and I hope many of you will be able to join us. Some of you haven't been around for quite a while (you know who you are). So stop on by!

Anti Smoking News
...from the web page: A bill has been introduced in the U.S. Senate that will prevent you from purchasing the cigarette brand of your choice over the Internet. It is vitally important that you write, call, e-mail or fax your Senator or Senators, urging them to vote against S. 1177. If this passes it could mean the end for pipe tobacco as well.
