SHPC June Meeting Reminder

HAS EVERYONE HAD ENOUGH RAIN!
I know I have!

Good day to you all,
I hope everyone is staying dry and has been able to take advantage of the few hours of sunshinewe've had in the past month (I've used almost all of it cutting my grass).  Anyway.. it's almost time for our next meeting which will take place on June 11th.

Last month, Peretti's of Boston sponsored Victor Vitale from Ashton/Peterson to promote Peterson Pipes.  Many of the pipes Victor brought were Peterson's higher grade models including a few very nice gold banded pipes and the "Return of Sherlock Holmes" series complete with the 7 pipe stand.  Prices ranged anywhere from $250 up to $600 before the 30% discount.

Unlike the James Norman, Ltd. show the number of pipes for sale and the number of members who attended was considerably less (where were you guys?).  Victor talked a little bit about the Peterson Company and his time as a rep with them.   Don "The Colonel" Powers even threw his two cents in in an effort to help Victor promote his pipes.  Thanks Don!

Speaking of Don, I spoke with him about this month's theme to which he suggested that we have a report from Steve Gutz and Ted Blank about their adventures at the Chicagoland Pipe Show and from Rick Frederics and Tim Hynick who attended the New York show.  Here are a few pictures from the show courtesy of Ted Blank:

This month's tobacco raffle
This month we will be raffling off a premium Virginia Flake from Mastro de Paja called "Milano".  Also, from MacBaren we have "Golden Extra",  a ready rubbed Burley blend.

Anti Smoking News
The results of a 40 year study on the effects of secondhand smoke has recently been released and it has the anti-smoking activists up in arms.  The conclusions from the study were:
"The results do not support a causal relation between environmental tobacco smoke and tobacco related mortality, although they do not rule out a small effect. The association between exposure to environmental tobacco smoke and coronary heart disease and lung cancer may be considerably weaker than generally believed."

I look forward to seeing you at the meeting,

Take Care,
Nelson

P.S. Hey Decoy... tax season's over, you can come back to the meeting now.
