Details of the June Meeting
Wow! Great turnout last month. I believe we had 15 members attend along with one potential new member. This is something we haven't seen in quite some time especially during the summer months.
I guess this crappy weather we've been having is good for something afterall. Or is this yet another sign that pipe smoking is beginning to surge? Either way.... we're happy to see everyone.

Along with Derek, a potential new member, It was also good to see Merrick back after a few months haitus and Jim who we haven't seen in over a year.
And I can't forget to mention our most veteran member and our resident musician both back for a visit and doing well.

We also want to thank our regulars who show up month after month. Without you guys we wouldn't have a club.

Update: The 2009 Club Pipe by Rad Davis
I heard from Dock Perry who recently had a conversation with Rad Davis. All is going well with the 2009 Club Pipe and we are still on schedule to receive them in September. More details will follow when we get nearer to that date. Maybe we'll even see Dock this month.... but I wouldn't put any money on it.

Occasional Smoker, 47, Signs Tobacco Bill
Washington, Jun 22— President Obama does not discuss the fact that he still occasionally smokes, a habit he very publicly tried to kick during his race for the White House.
But there he was on Monday, talking about cigarettes. As he signed legislation bringing tobacco products under federal control for the first time, the president conceded that the new law, aimed at keeping children from starting to smoke, could have helped him three decades ago.....
...The new law, the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, allows the Food and Drug Administration not only to forbid advertising geared toward children but also to lower the amount of nicotine in tobacco products, ban sweetened cigarettes that appeal to young taste buds and prohibit labels like “light” and “low tar.”   [Read the full article]
